The Hungarian team won one gold and five silver medals at the 20th International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) held for under-16s in Bangkok, Thailand, between December 1 and 10, the organisers said.

At the end of December, the Bartók-Pásztory Prize-winning Budapest Strings will pay tribute to their founder and artistic director, Károly Botvay, with a musical tribute. This year's soloist is the internationally acclaimed young cellist Dóra Kokas, a multiple competition winner. The ensemble's concertmaster will once again be János Pilz.
